Discover the highlights dotted along Europe’s longest waterway on this 7-night Danube River Cruise.

Life on board

Begin your journey in Budapest with a guided city tour before commencing your cruise. Travelling on board the MS Amadeus Silver, Symphony or Brilliant, you will experience the elegance of a boutique hotel as you’re transported to some of Europe’s most exciting cities. To enhance the cruise experience and to give a taste of life along the Danube, a guided walking tour of Bratislava, a full day tour of Vienna and a full day excursion to Salzburg and Salzkammergut are also included. These excursions are led by expert local guides who will share their wealth of knowledge and take you to the highlights of each destination. A full programme of further optional excursions is available at each port of call.

Much smaller than an ocean liner, the ship will take you into the heart of most cities you visit, giving you more time to visit the attractions and enjoy your time ashore.

Please note that this holiday may not be suitable for those with reduced mobility. For more details, please contact us.

Occasionally, river cruising can be affected by changes in the water level.  These changes may occur during the sailing, or shortly before departure, which means we may not be able to advise you in advance.  In the event of any change, the cruise operator will attempt to keep to the original itinerary in as far as it is possible.  In some instances, overnights on the ship may be replaced by hotel stays.  A river cruise will only be cancelled outright in the event of safety concerns, which are extremely rare.

Coach transfer to and from Belfast (Glengall Street) to Dublin Airport on selected dates.

Holiday highlights

MS Amadeus Vessels

The MS Amadeus vessels are elegant and spacious ships, with a more comfortable and intimate atmosphere compared to an ocean liner. All passenger cabins are outward facing with windows offering views of the river as you cruise past some of the best scenery in Europe. You can also relax in the ship's cafe, or take in wonderful views from the sun deck, lounge or bar areas.

Budapest

Budapest became one city after the unification of the cities Buda and Pest on opposite sides of the river in 1873. Known as the ‘Pearl of the Danube’ Budapest is one of the most magnificent cities in Europe and during your panoramic city tour you will witness the glorious architecture of Hungary’s parliament building, the beautiful Crown Bridge and the gothic castle of Buda.

Vienna

Lying in the east of the country, along the Danube, Austria’s capital is packed with history and grandeur. A buzzing metropolis, where modern design sits side by side opulent palaces, Vienna is a city of music, coffee houses, culinary delights and rich history.

Salzburg

The old town with its world-famous Baroque architecture is one of the best-preserved city centres north of the Alps. It was adopted by UNESCO in 1997 and is included on its list of World Cultural Heritage Sites. Salzburg is also the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Bratislava

Located in a picturesque setting, between Austria and Hungary, along the banks of the Danube, the capital of Slovakia is surrounded by vineyards and the Little Carpathian Mountains. The city, especially the old town, is best explored on foot in order to appreciate the narrow streets of pastel coloured buildings and medieval architecture.
