Located in the northeast of Italy, the region of Veneto stretches from the Dolomite Mountains all the way to the Adriatic Sea, and is home to delightful rolling landscapes and numerous picturesque towns and villages. Part of the Republic of Venice until the turn of the 19th century, the area has a rich and fascinating history, and its illustrious capital city is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular in the world.

Staying just outside Venice in the town of Mirano, you will be ideally located to explore Italy’s gastronomical capital, Bologna, the medieval town of Padua and, of course, the magnificent city of Venice with its warren of canals, charming bridges and bustling squares.

On this seven night holiday, there will be plenty of free time to take it easy and absorb the unique culture of Veneto, from its remarkable artistic heritage to its delicious food and locally produced wines.  So, for the perfect combination of relaxation and sightseeing in some of Italy's most outstanding locations, you need look no further.

Holiday highlights

Venice
Built on more than 100 small islands in a marshy lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. Its stone palaces seemingly rise out of the water. There are no cars or roadways, just canals and boats. The Grand Canal snakes through the city, which is filled with innumerable narrow, mazelike alleys and small squares.
Bologna
Bologna is both a lively and historic city, located in the Emilia-Romagna region, in northern Italy. Piazza Maggiore is a sprawling plaza lined with arched colonnades, cafes and medieval and Renaissance structures, such as City Hall, the Neptune Fountain and the Basilica of San Petronio. Among several medieval towers is the leaning Asinelli Tower, which is open for climbs
Padua
Located in Northern Italy’s Veneto region. Padua is known for the frescoes by Giotto in its Scrovegni Chapel and the vast 13th-century Basilica of St. Anthony. The basilica, with its Byzantine-style domes and notable artworks, contains the namesake saint’s tomb. In Padua's old town are arcaded streets and stylish cafes frequented by students of the University of Padua, established in 1222.
