Holiday highlights

Cairo

The name of the capital city of Egypt means ‘The Vanquisher’ or ‘The Triumphant,’ and it has a metropolitan area population of about 1.2 million people. Cairo is the most populous city in Africa or the Middle East. It’s busy streets are filled with markets, mosques and plenty of action. It's also a treasure trove of historical sites and museums and the highlights of any trip to Egypt. Tahrir Square and the Egyptian Museum are well worth a visit to explore the endless array of antiquities including royal mummies and King Tutankhamun artifacts. Situated nearby is the historic site of Giza, the iconic pyramids and Great Sphinx.

The Valley of the Kings

This valley comprises of a selection of tombs built for the Pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom. The Valley was used for primary burials from approximately 1539 BC to 1075 BC and contains some 60 tombs. The Valley of the Kings also had tombs for the favourite nobles and the wives and children of both the nobles and pharaohs. It is where Tutankhamun was found in the 1920’s.

Nile River Cruise

Explore the mystical world of Egyptian antiquities while cruising up the river Nile from Luxor to Aswan. It is a romantic, relaxed and convenient way to visit the many temples scattered on the shores of the river and is truly an experience of a lifetime. The variety of authentic food on board leaves little to be desired, with rich buffets complemented by European as well as oriental menus.

Hurghada

Founded in the early 20th century, Hurghada remained a small fishing village until just a few years ago, when it became the foremost tourist resort of the Red Sea coast and an international centre for aquatic sports such as diving, snorkelling, deep-sea fishing, sailing, windsurfing or swimming. Hurghada is a beach resort town stretching some 40km along Egypt’s Red Sea coast. There are also many restaurants, bars and nightclubs, while the old town, El Dahar, is home to traditional Egyptian coffee shops and souks.
