Delightful Danube River Cruise – Budapest to Nuremberg

Let's begin our river cruise holiday! Upon arrival in Budapest, we will be met by our local guide who will assist us in the transfer to Budapest port with a guided Budapest city tour en-route. We will take in highlights such: 

• Heroes Square
• Mathias Church 
• Fishermen’s Bastion for stunning photos of the views over the Danube
• The visit to St. Stephan’s Basilica

Please note: For the 19 October departure only, upon arrival in Budapest, you will meet your local guide and be transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure, giving you the opportunity to relax or explore the city at your own pace. The following morning, after breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and meet your local guide, who will assist with your transfer to Budapest port. En route, enjoy a guided city tour of Budapest.

In the afternoon we will be transferred to the quayside in Budapest to join your River Cruise. Let's Settle into our cabins and explore the range of facilities on board our ship as we embark on your 7-night cruise along the Danube. Sit back with a welcome cocktail in one of the lounge areas, followed by a tasty welcome dinner as we cruise through Budapest enjoying the sight of the city at night.

This morning the boat will be moored in Budapest for the morning, and you will have free time to explore the city, enjoy a day for shopping, relaxing or sightseeing at your own pace Visit the City Park to see Hero’s Square, the largest square in Budapest or visit the beautiful 18th century Royal Palace. The highlight of the tour is a guided visit of Hungarian State Opera followed by an opera recital.
 

Back on board the cruise, prepare yourself for an enjoyable Gala Dinner.

This morning, we will have arrive at the beautiful city of Vienna, here we will embark on a guided walk where we will get to know Vienna at its fullest. We will start at the well-known Hofburg Imperial Palace, walk along the Kohl market and finish at Vienna’s iconic St. Stephen’s Cathedral. 

After our tour we can return to the ship and enjoy many of the amenities on board or we can spend the afternoon in Vienna exploring this vibrant city at our own pace.

You will have today free time for shopping and sightseeing of your choice. 
Alternatively, you may wish to join an optional afternoon excursion to Schloss Hof Estate (payable locally). During the visit, you can explore the palace interiors, known for their detailed décor, elegant textiles, and chandeliers, before spending some time in the Baroque gardens. The experience also includes a guided visit to the stables, offering an opportunity to see the Lipizzaner horses up close. As another option, you can visit Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, also charge applies for this tour.
 

This morning, we will arrive at the picturesque town of Dürnstein which is named after the Medieval Castle Burgruine Dürnstein, which overlooks it. The town is the perfect spot to spend a leisurely morning wandering the narrow cobblestoned streets, admiring beautiful buildings, shopping and relaxing with a drink in one of the local coffee shops or visit of the many chocolate shops this picturesque town has to offer.

We will sit sail in the early afternoon and enjoy lunch on board. Later we will cruise through the scenic Wachau Valley en route to Melk. This afternoon, we will enjoy a guided tour to Melk Abbey, an Austrian Benedictine abbey and one of the world's most famous monastic sites. 
 

We will have the morning at leisure sailing along the Danube, relax on board the ship and enjoy the many amenities our ship has to offer. 

In the afternoon we arrive into Passau where we will have free time to explore this old town upon arrival, Take in highlights such as St. Stephen's Cathedral, in which the world's largest cathedral organ sounds, the majestic fortress Veste Oberhaus on the Danube's side and the Pilgrimage Church "Mariahilf" on the Inn's side.

We will remain in Passau overnight and enjoy a traditional Bavarian evening hosted by the crew on board your ship.

Today will be spent at Regensburg. Situated at the confluence of the Danube, Naab and Regen rivers, Regensburg is the fourth-largest city in the State of Bavaria and is an important political, economic and cultural base. The medieval centre of the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here we will enjoy a guided walking tour.

This morning, we will disembark the ship after breakfast and be met by our local representative. For the 19 October departure, it will be time to begin your journey home. You will be transferred to Frankfurt Airport, with a stop en route in Nuremberg for a guided city tour (subject to flight timings).

Please note: For the 6 October and 6 May departures, you will travel to Munich and enjoy a guided city tour before continuing to your hotel. The remainder of the day will be at leisure, giving you the opportunity to relax or explore the city at your own pace. The following day, after breakfast, you will be assisted with your transfer from the hotel to the airport.

 

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed start to your final morning before checking out of the hotel. Once you have settled any additional charges, you will be assisted with your transfer to Munich Airport for your onward flight home.
