From our base in the charming seaside town of Le Grau du Roi, we’ll explore a range of gorgeous villages and towns along the coast, from the underrated Les Baux-de-Provence with panoramic views to the picturesque town of Pézenas, which has remarkably preserved 16th, 17th and 18th century houses. Our France holiday also includes a trip to Avignon with its impressive legacy of ecclesiastical architecture, most notably the soaring, world heritage listed Palais des Papes. Another day trip takes you to the Roman city of Arles, a UNESCO World heritage site and the former home of the famed artist Vincent Van Gogh. Guided Excursion to Arles
After breakfast, begin your holiday with a full day excursion taking in the colourful and vibrant city of Arles, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and inspiration for many paintings by its famous resident, Van Gogh. Here we will have a walking tour of the city, with its amphitheatre and thermal baths.
Enjoy some time in the afternoon in Aigues-Mortes, a medieval walled city with beautifully preserved houses, cobblestone streets, gothic style churches, lots of cafés, and shops selling local souvenirs like nougat and ‘gardian’ hats.
Free Time in Le Grau du Roi
Today, you will have a full day to relax and enjoy the charms of the seaside town at your own pace. Take in some sightseeing, a walk along the beachfront and enjoy exploring the charming town of Le Grau du Roi.
Avignon & Les Baux de Provence
Guided Tour of Avignon
After breakfast, we start our full day tour exploring Avignon and Les Baux de Provence. Avignon was home to the Popes from 1309-1377; this medieval town includes a visit to the Pope's Palace, where you can admire the gothic towers and their splendour. The bridge of Avignon, which once crossed the Rhône, was built in the 12th Century. Only four of the twenty-two original sections of the bridge remain today.
Explore Les Baux de Provence
Visit Les Baux de Provence, known to be one of the most beautiful villages in France, with its small squares, terraces and narrow streets. The town also provides a panoramic view down over Arles and the Carmague.
Discover Le Grau du Roi at Your Own Pace
Today you will have free time to further explore your surroundings and see why the French like to spend their own holidays in this charming town. Sample some of the local pastries, fresh seafood, relax on one of the long stretches of sandy beaches or take a stroll along its fishing port. Your guide can offer advice on what to do in your free time.

Excursion to Pézenas
Your full day tour will begin after breakfast, taking in Pézenas a small Occitan town that has splendidly preserved 16th, 17th and 18th century houses built during the time of great prosperity. It also boasts a town centre that was one of the first in France to be protected as a historic monument.
Guided Tour of The Abbaye of Valmagne
The Cistercian Abbaye of Valmagne in the Parish of Villeveyrac was one of the richest abbeys in the South of France; it inspired the great cathedrals of Northern France. With its beautiful gardens and vineyards, it is a great setting for your afternoon guided visit and wine tasting.
Free Time in Le Grau du Roi
Make the most of your final free day in this charming little town, with some relaxed sightseeing. Visit places of interest such as the Seaquarium, Maison du Dauphin, and Villa Parry near the old lighthouse, or enjoy a leisurely dip in the Mediterranean Sea.
