    Your Guided Garden Tour Of Rome

    Travel with us to the Eternal City and discover the wonderful gardens of Rome with garden expert Iain MacDonald. On this short Italy break we'll discover the serene Vatican Gardens, wander among the plants and architecture of the Mannerist gardens of Villa Lante, explore the world famous Villa d’Este in Tivoli with its spectacular fountains and admire the many themed enchanting gardens of Landriana. We will also have the opportunity to soak in the romantic atmosphere of Ninfa; its gardens and its ruins. As well as the gardens, we will visit some of the most famous sights in Rome including the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps and the Pantheon, all fine examples of Baroque architecture. Plus, we’ll see incredible pieces of art by Caravaggio, Botticelli and much more at the Borghese Gallery. Explore this remarkable part of Italy and see the best gardens in Rome.

    Following breakfast we join our local guide for a walking tour of Baroque Rome to include the iconic Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. 

    Vatican Gardens

    After some free time at leisure our day continues with a visit to the spectacular Vatican Gardens. Dating back to medieval times the gardens today have numerous fountains, sculptures and forests and floral extensions over an area of 50 acres occupying most of the Vatican Hill.

    Ninfa, Sermoneta and Giardini della Landriana

    The Gardens of Ninfa

    This morning we start our day with a visit to the Garden of Ninfa built on the ruins of the medieval town of Ninfa. This English style romantic garden is enchanting and home to 1300 species of plants including magnolia, birch trees, Japanese Maples and aquatic irises.

    Sermoneta

    We will enjoy an included lunch together in the walled hill town of Sermoneta.

    Giardini della Landriana

    Our final visit of the day is to Giardini della Landriana situated on a large estate on the Lazio coast. The gardens are divided into rooms each of which boast a unique botanical feature. Highlights include the Valley of Ancient Roses, the Orange Garden, the Avenue of Cypresses and the Blue Meadow.

    Join us this morning for a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Villa d’Este in Tivoli, an example of a Mannerist garden with spectacular waterworks and theatrical effects. In fact there are over five hundred water jets from fountains, pools and water troughs. The villa and gardens are one of the best examples of Italian Renaissance architecture in the country.

    Villa Lante

    We’ll enjoy an included lunch together before our next visit of the day to the Mannerist gardens of Villa Lante which have existed in some form since the 16th century. The gardens feature magnificent water features and ascending terraces.

    Villa Borghese Park & Return to Dublin

    Lunch & Villa Borghese Park

    This morning we will check out of our hotel have some free time at leisure before dining together for our included lunch. 

    Following our meal we will visit Villa Borghese Park and Gallery. Located on the Pincian Hill, close to the Spanish Steps the gardens were developed in 1606. Our tour includes a visit to the gallery which houses works by renowned artists such as Raphael, Caravaggio, Rubens and Botticelli.

    Return to Dublin

    This afternoon it’s time to say arrivederci to Rome as we transfer to the airport for our return flight to Dublin.
