    Your Guided Group Holiday to the Dolomites

    Join us on this incredible holiday to Italy to uncover historic sights, breathtaking scenery and idyllic villages of the Dolomites, one of the most spectacular mountain ranges in Europe. On a visit to Bolzano, known as the gateway to the Dolomites, we’ll see how Italian and German influences seamlessly blend throughout the city. The Renon Railway will take us to the beautiful mountain town of Collalbo and after experiencing the scenic views from the Mendola Funicular, one of the steepest funiculars in Europe, we’ll enjoy some wine tasting. With a panoramic train journey from Mezzolombardo to Caldes, a boat trip around Lake Garda and a tour of Trento, there is so much we’ll see in this incredible part of Italy.

    Our Italian adventure begins! Upon arrival, we’ll meet our friendly local representative for a transfer to our hotel in Lake Molveno, beautifully set beneath the dramatic peaks of the Brenta Dolomites.

    Bolzano & Collalbo Train

    Renon Railway & Collalbo

    After a leisurely breakfast, we set off on a full-day excursion with our expert guide. We’ll begin with a cable car ride to the charming hilltop village of Soprabolzano (approx. 12 minutes). From there, we board the historic Renon Railway for a scenic journey to Collalbo (approx. 15 minutes). As the narrow-gauge train climbs to 1,221 meters, we’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the Dolomites. 

    We’ll pause for photos of the remarkable Earth Pyramids, South Tyrol’s unique rock formations, before enjoying free time for lunch at our leisure.

    Bolzano

    In the afternoon, we travel to Bolzano, the gateway to the Dolomites. Here, we’ll explore the city’s rich art, architecture, and history on a guided walking tour, followed by some free time to explore at your own pace.

    Mendola Funicular & Wine Tasting

    Wine Tasting & Mendola Funicular

    This morning begins with a visit to a local winery, where we’ll enjoy a tasting of regional wines. We then continue to the foothills of the Mendola Mountain Range, where we board the Mendola Funicular for a spectacular ascent to Passo della Mendola (approx. 12 minutes each way). As we climb to 1,363 meters, the journey offers sweeping views across bridges and woodlands. 

    After free time for lunch, we descend to visit the idyllic village of San Antonio di Caldaro before returning to our hotel.

    Castles Train Route, Caldes & Cles

    Today, we delve deeper into the region’s history and landscapes. We travel by coach to Mezzolombardo, where we board a scenic train for a picturesque journey through mountains and valleys to Caldes (approx. 90 minutes). 

    On arrival, we’ll visit the 13th-century Caldes Castle, a Gothic gem overlooking the Noce River. 

    After some free time, we continue to the Assessorile Palace (Palace of Justice) in Cles. Dating back to the 13th century, the palace is renowned for its beautiful frescoes and 15th-century architecture.

    Lake Garda

    Today we travel to scenic Lake Garda for a day of discovery. We’ll begin with a walking tour of Riva del Garda, followed by a relaxing half hour boat cruise across the lake. 

    Upon arrival in the picturesque village of Limone, we will have free time to explore the charming streets, enjoy lunch, or simply take in the views before returning to our hotel in the afternoon.

    This morning, we visit the historic city of Trento, once a Roman settlement. Our guided walking tour will take us through its colourful streets and include a visit to Buonconsiglio Castle. With its impressive architecture, vibrant frescoes, and stunning mountain backdrop, the castle offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of Trentino. 

    We'll return to our hotel in the late afternoon for some free time at leisure before our evening meal.
