Travel with us to the setting of many a Grimm fairy-tale and birthplace of the Cuckoo Clock, Germany’s Black Forest & the magical city of Munich. Our journey begins in Munich, the largest city of Bavaria, located north of the Bavarian Alps on the banks of River Isar. We’ll enjoy a half day city tour and free time to appreciate Munich’s impressive squares, markets and world famous beer houses. Next, we’ll take a scenic train journey from Munich to the town of Karlsruhe in Southwest Germany, the base for the second half of our holiday and the perfect location from which to explore the Black Forest and its picturesque towns. From here, we’ll enjoy excursions to the 19th century spa town of Baden-Baden, the idyllic Lake Mummelsee and the “Jewel of the Black Forest”, Freiburg.

Travel to Munich, Germany
Arrive in Munich
Our journey begins as we arrive in Munich, where we are welcomed by our friendly local guide before transferring to our hotel.
The remainder of the day is free for us to settle in, relax and enjoy our first taste of Bavaria.

Guided City Tour
Today we explore the highlights of Munich with our expert local guide. Our panoramic tour showcases many of the city's most famous landmarks, including:
- Königsplatz
- The impressive Pinakotheken Art Museums
- The Hall of Generals
- Prinzregentenstraße
- The Bavarian National Museum
- The Angel of Peace
- Maximilianstrasse

Guided Walking Tour
Today we travel by coach to the beautiful Austrian city of Salzburg, the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
During our guided walking tour, we'll discover the city's elegant streets and historic landmarks while enjoying wonderful views of the surrounding Eastern Alps.
Free Time at Leisure
The afternoon is free for you to explore at your own pace.
- Take a stroll through Salzburg's charming lanes
- Visit one of its historic churches
- Simply relax in a traditional café before returning to Munich by coach
Travel to Strasbourg
Train Journey through the Black Forest
After breakfast, we transfer to Munich Central Station for our rail journey to Karlsruhe.
Travelling through the beautiful northern Black Forest, we'll enjoy beautiful views of forests and countryside before continuing by coach to our hotel in Strasbourg.
Strasbourg and Colmar
Guided Walking Tour of Strasbourg
Today we cross the Rhine River into the French region of Alsace.
Our morning begins with a guided walking tour of Strasbourg, where we'll explore the UNESCO-listed Grande Île, renowned for its:
- Medieval streets
- Half-timbered houses
- Magnificent Gothic cathedral
Guided Walking Tour of Colmar
Later, we continue to the enchanting town of Colmar.
Often called the "Little Venice of Alsace", Colmar charms visitors with its:
- Colourful half-timbered houses
- Canals
- Beautifully preserved medieval streets
Depending on the season, we may even spot storks nesting on rooftops and chimneys as we explore with our guide.
Baden-Baden, the Black Forest and Lake Mummelsee
Guided Tour of Baden-Baden
Today we visit the elegant spa town of Baden-Baden, celebrated for its historic thermal springs.
Our guided walking tour includes highlights such as:
- The Kurhaus
- Augusta Square
- The Colonnades
- Lichtentaler Allee
Scenic Black Forest Drive
This afternoon we travel along the spectacular Black Forest Ridgeway.
- Enjoy panoramic views across one of Germany's most beautiful landscapes
- Our journey ends at the picturesque Lake Mummelsee, one of the Black Forest's famous glacial lakes
- Here we'll have time to browse for traditional souvenirs, including cuckoo clocks, or perhaps enjoy a slice of the region's famous Black Forest cake
Visit Freiburg

Today we travel to Freiburg, known as the "Jewel of the Black Forest."
During our guided walking tour, we'll explore the city's historic centre which has a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere with:
- Medieval streets
- Colourful gabled houses
- Lively squares
- The impressive Gothic cathedral
Food and Wine Tasting
On our return to Strasbourg, we stop to enjoy a tasting of traditional Alsatian specialities. Sample regional favourites including:
- Choucroute
- Flammekueche
- A selection of renowned Alsatian wines, such as Riesling and Gewürztraminer
Depart Germany
Return Home
Today we bid farewell to Germany, France and Austria after a memorable journey through Bavaria, the Black Forest and Alsace.
We transfer to the airport with guide assistance for our return flight home.
