This morning, we will experience the elegance and history of the Château de Chenonceau, one of the most iconic castles in the Loire Valley, with a self-paced audio-guided tour. Known as the “Castle of the Ladies,” this magnificent Renaissance masterpiece stretches gracefully over the Cher River. The audio guide provides fascinating insights into the castle’s rich history, including stories of its influential residents like Catherine de’ Medici and Diane de Poitiers. We stroll through opulent rooms adorned with period furnishings and exquisite tapestries and admire the breathtaking views of the river from the castle’s iconic gallery. We end our visit by wandering the beautifully landscaped gardens, which reflect the artistry and refinement of the château's past.

You can also visit the stunning Saint-Gatien Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture with intricate stained-glass windows. This morning, we explore more with an original outing that combines a boat trip (50 minutes of navigation) and a visit to a Saumur Brut cellar. We begin with a serene boat trip along the Loire River, where we will glide past picturesque landscapes, charming villages, and historic landmarks, all while learning about the region’s rich history and natural heritage. After our river journey, we delve into the world of sparkling wine with a guided visit to a Saumur Brut cellar, as the boat drops us off at the foot of the caves on the Thouet. We discover the art of traditional winemaking, explore the underground caves where the wines are aged, and enjoy a tasting session to savour the crisp and refined flavours of this regional specialty (1.5 hours for the cellar tour including a tasting).

We explore the castle’s stunning interiors, including the famous double-helix staircase, grand halls, and ornately decorated chambers. Our guide will share captivating stories of royal intrigue, architectural innovation, and the château’s role in French history.

This afternoon you can spend some free time in Blois, nestled along the Loire River.
