Join us on this holiday of a lifetime to discover the beautiful landscapes, ancient temples, amazing wildlife and relaxing beaches of Sri Lanka. We’ll immerse ourselves in this rich culture with wonders at every turn; from the walled city of Galle, to the spectacular Lion's Rock fortress in Sigiriya. An excursion to the ancient city of Anuradhapura will be a particular highlight, with its temples, landscaped gardens, ceremonial baths and the sacred ‘Bo Tree’, the oldest human-planted tree in the world. We’ll also get to experience local life as we visit traditional villages, take a ride in a tuk tuk, and enjoy an authentic Sri Lankan cultural performance. And to top it all off, we’ll have time to soak up the sun on this tropical island’s gorgeous white sand beaches.

Depart for Colombo
Depart Dublin on your overnight flight to Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka.
At Leisure in Negombo
Upon arrival in Colombo you will be met by our local representative before being transferred to your hotel in Negombo. Check in to your hotel early and settle into your surroundings. The rest of your day is at leisure. An evening meal is included each night of your stay.
Negombo & Habarana
Guided Tour of Negombo Village
This morning is a very early start to explore a local fishing village. Negombo has a thriving fishing industry and early morning is the best time to witness the locals selling their fresh catch. After breakfast at your hotel, you will have a sightseeing tour of Negombo before departing for Habarana, which will be your home for the next three nights. The journey from Negombo to Habarana will take approximately four hours, along the way enjoy the views of the tropical countryside from your coach.
You will arrive at your hotel in the evening, check in, relax and become further familiar with your surroundings. Evening is at leisure.
Sigiriya & Polonnaruwa
Guided Excursion to Sigiriya
This morning you will begin a full day guided excursion to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Sigiriya. The spectacular ‘Lion’s Rock’ fortress is a large ancient rock palace surrounded by the remains of an extensive network of gardens. The climb up has over 1,200 steps, with a narrow staircase. There are several platforms where you can take a break along the way. Admire the beautiful collection of Water Gardens, painted Frescoes and ancient graffiti all on show, in what is one of Sri Lanka's crowning glories.
Guided Tour of Polonnaruwa
In the afternoon, enjoy an excursion of the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, the medieval capital of Sri Lanka. This UNESCO World Heritage site includes the Royal Palace complex and Gal Vihara rock temple of the Buddha. The entire landscape of the region is punctuated by huge man-made reservoirs and veritable inland seas, the most famous of which is the Prakrama Samudra or the Sea of Parakrama.
Guided Excursion to the Ancient City of Anuradhapura
After breakfast we leave Harbarana for the day and set off on an excursion to the ancient city of Anuradhapura, which is famous for its temples, landscaped gardens, and the sacred ‘Bo Tree’, which dates from around 245BC and is the world’s oldest known tree. Anuradhapura was the ancient capital of Sri Lanka for more than a thousand years from the 5th century BC and a hosts a number of Buddhist monuments dating back over 2000 years.
Experience the Rural Life in Sri Lanka
Before driving back to your hotel, you will have the opportunity to experience rural life in Sri Lanka. Enjoy time exploring a local village, where you will take a bullock cart ride past lush paddy fields, shops and mud thatched houses.
Kandy & Dambulla Cave
Dambulla Cave Temple
After breakfast, depart for Kandy, an attractive bustling city that is encircled by hills and has a tranquil lake at its centre. You will enjoy a visit to Dambulla Cave Temple en route, which has been a sacred pilgrimage site for 22 centuries and contains a fascinating array of Buddhist mural paintings and statues of Buddha. The drive will take approximately three hours to reach Kandy.
The Temple of The Sacred Tooth Relic
In Kandy, enjoy an excursion to The Temple of The Sacred Tooth Relic, a centre for the Buddhist faith. This 16th century temple houses the sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha, which was brought to Sri Lanka from ancient India in the 4th century.
Peradeniya & Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage
Visit the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage
Relish in the beauty of The Royal Botanic Gardens in Peradeniya before visiting the Pinnawela Elephant orphanage, where you will have the opportunity to witness wild Asian elephants. After you will visit a Batik factory, where cloth is dyed in beautiful patterns using a technique involving hot wax, before arriving back at your hotel in the evening. Your evening will be at leisure.
Guided Tour of Nuwara Eliya
This morning, you will set off for Nuwara Eliya, the drive will take approximately two and a half hours, en-route there will be a visit to a tea plantation and tea factories. Upon arrival in Nuwara Eliya, you will have a guided tour of the town, before checking in at your hotel. The town’s name translates as “City of Light”, but it is also known as “Little England” as it was a popular destination for 19th century British colonialists who indulged in pastimes such as fox hunting, deer hunting, elephant hunting, polo, golf and cricket. The colonial history of the town can still be seen in local buildings such as the Queen's Cottage, General's House, Grand Hotel, Hill Club, and Town Post Office.
Settle into your hotel and get to know your surroundings. The city of Nuwara Eliya, located in the heart of Sri Lankan hill country, is the home of the famous Ceylon Tea. Situated at an altitude of 1868m, Nuwara Eliya is overlooked by Pidurutalagala, the tallest mountain in Sri Lanka, and enjoys a temperate highland climate. The rolling mountains are a carpet of velvety green tea plantations, and beautiful waterfalls dot the landscape.
Ella Waterfalls & Yala National Park
Visit Ella Waterfalls
Today you will transfer from Nuwara to Yala, enroute you will have a stop at Ella Waterfalls.Today's journey will take approximately five hours drive to reach Yala.
Safari Game Drive in Yala National Park
Once you reach Yala, before checking into your hotel, you will have a safari game drive, in the National Park by jeep. Yala National park, being the second largest in Sri Lanka is home to elephants, leopards, bear, water buffalo, crocodiles, as well as countless other animals and birds. The park has also been featured on Discovery and National Geographic documentaries, which focused on leopard research and conservation. After your safari, drive to your hotel and check in, relax unwind and spend your evening at leisure.
Galle & Weligama
Guided Tour of Galle
After breakfast we depart for Weligama, the drive will take approximately four and a half hours. En route you will have a guided tour of Galle and explore the 17th century Portuguese and Dutch Fort in which the central city is contained. Stroll through the streets to see the Dutch influenced architecture, old British residences and mosques with their Arabic touches before proceeding on to the beach side resort of Weligama.
The afternoon is at leisure, you are free to enjoy some beach time and further become familiar with your surroundings.
At Leisure in Weligama
You will have two full days at leisure in the delightful surroundings of Weligama. Enjoy a long walk on the beach, snorkelling, souvenir shopping or simply relax and unwind on your final days in Sri Lanka. Your local guide will be happy to suggest activities to suit your interests.
Weligama Transfer to Colombo
Depart for Colombo
After a leisurely breakfast, transfer by coach to Colombo. The drive will take approximately three hours. After check in at your hotel spend the rest of your day in at leisure.
Arrive home following your once in a lifetime trip to Sri Lanka.
