Join us for the perfect combination of beach holiday and city break on this guided group tour to the coastal towns outside of Lisbon. We’ll stay in the lovely resort towns of Cascais or Estoril, each located just half an hour away from the city. From there, we’ll embark on a guided day trip to Lisbon, where you’ll learn about Portugal’s remarkable maritime history at the Belem Tower and Monument to the Discoveries. There will be plenty of free time to discover the Portuguese capital at your own pace; go shopping, explore the colourful streets of Alfama or try the famous and tasty Pastel de nata! We’ll also enjoy excursions to the magical Sintra Castle; the medieval, cobblestone towns of Óbidos and Alcobaça; and the traditional fishing village of Nazaré. This leisurely Portugal break also includes plenty of free time for you to enjoy beautiful Portuguese beaches or explore on your own.

Discover Sintra
Half Day Guided Excursion to Sintra
We begin our sightseeing with a half day guided excursion to nearby Sintra. where we will uncover the history and treasures of Sintra National Palace, a beautiful 16th century palace that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located in the foothills of the Sintra Mountains, this palace with a fairy-tale setting is where the Portuguese Royal Family formerly spent their summers.

Discover Lisbon on a City Tour
We discover more on a full day guided excursion to the capital city of Lisbon. Join us to explore the sights that represent Portugal’s remarkable historical power during the Age of Discovery, such as the Monument to the Discoveries, Belem Tower, Jerónimos Monastery (viewed from the outside), Rossio, Avenue of Liberdade and Marquês de Pombal Square. Following the tour, there will be time to enjoy some shopping and uncover the city at our own pace, before returning to our hotel.

Explore Cascais
On another day at leisure, we can visit the nearby resort of Cascais. Once a Royal retreat, today it is a lively town with grand mansions, beaches and a busy fishing harbour. We can also take advantage of the local train service and pay a return visit to see more of the captivating city of Lisbon.
Excursion to Óbidos, Alcobaça & Nazaré
Uncover Obidos, Alcobaca and Nazare on a Full Day Tour
We’ll begin today’s excursion with a visit to the picturesque walled town of Óbidos where we will take a walking tour through its cobblestone streets, overlooked by a 12th-century castle. There will be some free time here before departing to Alcobaça, where we discover a magnificent Cistercian monastery founded in the 12th century. We then continue to Nazaré, a charming town with whitewashed cottages, cobbled lanes and magnificent sea views from its vast sandy beach. Lunch is included at a local restaurant in Nazaré.

Go Sightseeing in Estoril or Cascais
On this last day of leisure, let’s breathe in the fresh Atlantic air as we stroll the seafront between Estoril and Cascais, stopping for a beachside ice cream or coffee and browsing the shops for souvenirs to take home.
Return Home from Lisbon
Depart Lisbon Portugal
Today, we bid farewell to Estoril and transfer from our hotel to Lisbon Airport for our homeward flight.
