    Your Guided Garden Tour of Limerick & Clare

    Enjoy a short break in the west of Ireland and explore some truly inspirational gardens. This tour will begin with a visit to Bunratty Castle in Limerick, a historic gem featuring stunning Regency Walled Gardens and the immersive Bunratty Folk Village, offering a fascinating glimpse into Ireland's rich heritage. Next we'll visit the private Coolwater Garden, renowned for its striking water garden, Alpine troughs, a thyme-lined combe, a fern dell, a Japanese maple bed, and a juniper escarpment. In County Clare, we'll delve into the unique limestone landscape of the Burren, home to rare plant species, and visit the award-winning Caher Bridge Garden during a guided tour with environmentalist Carl Wright. Our tour will conclude at O'Mahony Garden, a charming haven overlooking the Galtee Mountains, featuring a harmonious blend of mature trees and shrubs.

    Bunratty Village & Regency Walled Gardens

    Our tour begins in Limerick at lunchtime where we will meet with our coach & garden guide Brona Dore at Colbert Train Station. 

    Join us as we depart Limerick around noon for our journey to Bunratty for a visit to the Regency Walled Gardens & Bunratty Folk Village. The beautiful walled garden at Bunratty House is a surviving part of the demesne which was formed around Bunratty Castle. 

    Later this afternoon we travel onwards to the Old Ground Hotel in Ennis where our tour is based. An evening meal is included each night during out stay.

    Private Garden Visit & Coolwater Garden

    Private Garden Visit

    Following a leisurely breakfast, we depart our hotel for a visit the private garden of Thomas & Valerie Downes near Beagh. Refreshments included.

    Coolwater Garden

    Following some free time for lunch (at own expense) we will enjoy a guided visit to Coolwater Garden, Fedamore. This small private garden, with a unique personality, is set on a half-acre with highlights that include a water garden, landscaped Alpine troughs and a covered Arid section. Refreshments included. 

    We will return to our hotel later this afternoon.

    The Burren & Caher Bridge Gardens

    The Burren

    This morning, we join environmentalist & gardener Carl Wright for a guided tour of the Burren. The fertile & sensitive landscape of this limestone plateau is home to about 1100 plant species including many rare plants unique to the area.

    Caher Bridge Gardens

    Following some free time for lunch in Ballyvaughan (at own expense) join us on a visit to the award winning Caher Bridge Gardens. Carl Wright started his project here in 1999 to create one of the most unusual and outstanding gardens in Ireland. The garden contains an incredible variety of plants all designed to blend into the surrounding landscape. 

    We will return to our hotel later this afternoon.

    O’Mahony Garden & Return to Limerick Station

    O’Mahony Garden

    After checking out of our hotel we will depart for a morning visit to the award winning O’Mahony Garden. Comprising of four different gardens including a kitchen garden and small orchard it is a one-acre site looking on to the Galtee Mountains. Refreshments included.

    Return to Limerick

    Time: AfternoonAfternoon

    Following our visit, we will transfer to Colbert Train Station in Limerick at approximately 13.00hrs where our tour together will end.
