Travel with us to discover the enchanting region of Puglia, on the heel of Italy’s ‘boot’. On this trip to southern Italy, we’ll have plenty of time to explore both the culture and the heritage of this area including landmark cities like Lecce - the ‘Florence of the South’, Bari with its atmospheric seaport, and the unspoiled heritage towns of Trani and Ostuni. We’ll discover sandy beaches, rolling green hilltops with panoramic views and incredible art and architecture. Known for its superb olive oils and wines, Puglia has its own unique cuisine, including the famous ‘orecchiette’ pasta. We’ll have the opportunity to sample some of these local flavours on a full day excursion to Locorotondo for regional wines, Alberobello for homegrown produce, and Martina Franca for fresh olive oil. Locorotondo, Alberobello & Martina Franca
Full Day Guided Excursion
Today there will be a full day guided excursion beginning in Locorotondo, a small village that is famous for its wine production and its small streets. You will stop at one of the wine cellars for a tasting before moving on to Alberobello, which is known for its unique conical-shaped Trulli constructions and taste some homegrown produce at a typical Masseria (farmhouse). There will be olive oil tasting included in Martina Franca before returning to your hotel.

Optional Excursion to Matera
Optional full day excursion to the European Capital of Culture 2019 and UNESCO listed town of Matera. Home to the Sassi di Matera cave-like dwellings your excursion will include a guided walking tour through the labyrinth of alleys and streets followed by free time at leisure for sightseeing and shopping before returning to your hotel. This excursion is subject to minimum numbers.
Guided Excursion to Lecce
This guided excursion to the beautiful baroque city of Lecce includes a walking tour through the historic centre, which is characterised by the white and gold colour of the famous Lecce stone. There will be free time for lunch in Lecce, and your guide can suggest places which offer dishes and delicacies unique to the region.

A free day to soak up the sun, or do some independent sightseeing in this remarkably scenic area.
Bari & Trani
Excursion to Bari
Begin your full day excursion with a visit to Bari, the capital of Apulia region, famous for St Nicholas and S. Sabino Cathedrals and the Swabian Castle.
Guided Visit to Trani
This afternoon there will be a guided visit to the historic centre of Trani and its port, to admire the castle of Frederick II and the Romanesque cathedral dedicated to San Nicola Pelligrino.
Explore Puglia at Your Own Pace
Take in some local sightseeing and shopping, and perhaps a sunny al fresco lunch.
Time to say 'arrivederci' to lovely Puglia, and transfer to the airport for your flight home. If your flight is departing late in the evening, a stop at Castel del Monte will be included en route. Castel del Monte is a unique piece of military architecture built in the 13th century by Emperor Frederick II.
